After completing my project, it was time to reflect on the process that was completed during this term. Starting off with the main idea of the project, I really liked choosing 'purple haze' as it is a very broad topic which allowed me to explore a lot of outcomes. However, it was down to me to choose the specific idea for my project. I got slightly worried when I realised that I had to produce 6 products, therefore, I decided to play it safe and proceed with a theme similar to last terms project. I used the 'multi-functional products' as I was familiar with the concept. Even one of my functions is similar to the previous terms project. However, the final outcomes ended up being completely different. Regardless, I decided that next term I will use something completely different as a topic. This was the third and last lecture of the term. It was about David Bowie which was very interesting and fun. Biography:  David Bowie was a rock star born in England on the 8th of January 1947 as David Robert Jones. The interest in music run in the family as Bowie was influenced by his older brother Terry who exposed Bowie to the world of music. Bowie started playing the saxophone since a really young age. However, his brother Terry had mental issues which forced him to move to an institution, leaving Bowie alone and scarred. Terry committed suicide in a later stage which influenced the song 'Jump they say'. Bowie got accepted in Bromley Technical high school where he spent some time studying. After graduating at the age of 16, he continued pursuing his passion in music by arranging to play with other bands. Simultaneously, he also leaded his own band known as 'Davy Jones and the lower thirds'. However, since there was an artist with a similar name called 'Davy Jone...

After preparing all of my design boards, it was time to insert them into my website. I wanted to include them into the folder I left blank. The first thing that I had to do was to change the cover sheet of my project display. I clicked on change column background and then clicked on image and uploaded one of the render I created. Then, I adjusted the title and the read more button to fit the box. Additionally, the orange really matches the purple and they complement each other well. I think the picture looks great as a cover sheet and it encompasses all of my products. The next step was to add my introduction. I drafted this onto word and then copy pasted it into my website. I included a description of my project.  . The next step was to add slide gallery for the individual perspectives of my products. I inserted 6 galleries for the 6 different functions of my products. After having all sketches, orthographic views, renders, mock-ups and exploded views ready, it was time to finally combine it all together to form my design boards. I also completed some research for the layout of the design boards in order to be unique and fun. I forgot to take multiple screenshots during the design process. However, this is what I did: I created a new file in illustrator with a portrait orientation. I decided that I was going to create 6 design boards, one for each function. This way, I could incorporate exploded views, sketches, renders and orthographic drawings in each.  I also planned of adding the mock up pictures as my cover page for the introduction to the design boards. I started creating my layout by adding purple stripes that interact with each other. I made sure to add my name, the page number and the year. It was finally time to start my renderings and mock-ups in order to start my design boards. This process was unexpectedly time consuming as I could not find a high quality software for renders.  This delayed the whole process which was frustrating and time consuming. However, I now know that I have to be more organised and plan things properly in order to avoid halts in the process such as this one. I used the same render as my orthographic drawings which was Irender_nXt. I tried to capture the most essential views that will be displayed in my design boards. Each render takes up a lot of time and since the process was already drastically delayed, I tried to capture only necessary views.  I ended up rendering about 60 images. I mentioned in the previous blog that I wanted to add some exploded views to my design boards to clearly showcase my components. I copy and pasted the existing designs on sketchUp: First, I had to select everything and right click on it. Then, I selected 'explode' to separate each planar surface from the other.  Once the planar surfaces were separated, I started selecting one face at a time and using the 'move' tool to drag it approximately 10cm away from its designated position. I repeated this process with all elements in the design including screws and hinges. I wanted to keep everything at a similar position to show the assembly of my products.
