Existing Websites Research

Image
Building my own website turned out to be more challenging than I thought it would. There are many factors that need to be taken into consideration such as colours, fonts, font size and the layout. I decided to look at 3 product designers’ websites to get some inspiration from them and see how I can present my work in my website. The first product designer I looked at was Marc Newson . He is the designer than made me interested and inspired me to follow this progression route. The first thing I noticed when I opened the website were the images of his work displayed on the home page. I really like the fact that he used the home page to display his work which makes it easier for the viewer to identify what his profession is if they don’t know. You can view a different product as the image changes using a transition every few seconds, which is a cool way to display an individual’s work. The colours maintained throughout the website are simple as he keeps his background white with the str...

Personalising my Website's Layout

Image
During today’s class, we were in the process of creating our own website showcasing my progression route. Before customising it to my own liking, I decided to look at 3 different layouts and comment on them to figure out which layout suits me the best. The first layout was made to promote a personal life coach. The part of the layout that stood out to me the most was the bright background contrasting with the bold, black word ‘success’. The change in font and size of ‘success’ suggest that this is what he is trying to make you achieve. It is the key word for his profession. He added a background with calm, happy colours to further suggest that he is trying to help you achieve happiness. Additionally, he uses the font ‘lulo clean’ which seems to be the same font he uses for his name at the top left corner. I really like how he keeps the same font as it shows consistency in the brand he is promoting. The layout is well-structured and really easy to navigate through as the tabs are disp...

My Blog Buddy

Image
Unfortunately, due to the circumstances we live in right now, the majority of our classes are online. This limits us when it comes to socialising and making new friends.  However, I was really excited to find out that we would have blog buddies. I have the opportunity to work with 2 blog buddies, Luiza and Klaudia. This is an opportunity to familiarise ourselves with new people. We are going to be able to give feedback, learn and get to know one another. I am looking forward to working with Luiza and Klaudia and it was a pleasure communicating with them.  What I really like about them both is that they are really easy to talk to, very friendly and we communicate well.  We decided to answer a series of questions to get to know each other better and feel more comfortable. We exchanged our answers via a word document.   1. What is your name and where are you from?   My name is Luiza Plak and I am from Poland. 2. Why have you chosen to study this course? ...

Final Part of my Advertisement

Image
After all the research, time and effort that was put into this, I finally finished my project. Overall, this was a very fun project to complete as it challenged and pushed my creativity. Here is the final advertisement:   Regarding my advertisement, I am satisfied with the results. I like how the mask turned out, even though it doesn’t look very realistic, it still represents the character. I also like the background colour as it is more of a pastel red that calms the eye. If it was white, I think it would be very distracting and tiring to the eye. I am aware of the fact that there are imperfections such as the outline of the hair but it was very difficult to get it to look realistic. I tried my best to represent a brand that means a lot to me and get a message across for the readers. I could have also added effects and adjusted the brightness and contrast of the picture to make it even more professional looking. This was my first time trying out Photoshop and I was ple...

Planning my Advertisement

Image
After concluding research and planning, I was finally ready to begin working on the creation of my own advertisement. I decided to photograph one of my friends in the park reading a Marvel comic. Being the photographer allowed me to capture the moment exactly as I envisioned it. The background of the original picture included the leaves in the park, which made the process later on way more challenging. I asked my friend to wear dark coloured clothes so it can create contrast with the comic later on. My friend has really fair skin which acted as an advantage as there was contrast between her skin and the clothes but also the comic she was holding. We were satisfied with the shots taken from my iPhone 8 plus camera. It was a challenge for us to take a good shot as we had many difficulties in the park. One of the difficulties we encountered was that the background was that the background was distracting from our image. This took away a lot of focus from the comic which wasn’t ideal. Ano...

Advertising Research: Part 2

Image
After researching a few different advertising posters and aspects regarding graphology, I started brainstorming different products that I could promote in my advertisement. I wanted it to be related to something I like and something I am familiar with. Some of the ideas I brainstormed included: 1.       1.   A fragrance 2.       2.   A book 3.      3.   Make up products After using the process of elimination, I decided that I was going to be advertising a book. There are so many fun ways to advertise a book and the topic really intrigued me. I wanted to advertise something that means a lot to me and that I am familiar with so I can have the best results possible. Therefore, I chose to advertise Marvel comics, as I have always been a fan of Marvel and their characters. The comic I chose to incorporate into my advertisement was 'the amazing Spiderman #850'.
