  After finalising my development and the material chosen for my design, it was time to analyse the measurements and the components needed for my designs.  I started off by analysing the measurements needed for the desk and the cupboard.  Each letter corresponds to a surface. On the table, there are descriptions, quantity, length, width and height which correspond to one letter. The first step of creating realistic measurements for my design was to google the ideal height of a table.  What height should a table be? My results showed that the ideal table can be up to 76cm. I decided that I would create my table to be of height 76cm. Additionally, I want to create standard thickness sizes to ensure mass production of these planks. I decided that a good thickness would be 1.5cm. After finalising my designs, it was time to look at various materials. I will be researching multiple materials and looking closely for their properties. By the end of this post, I will hopefully know what type of material I will be using.  I will not be focusing on the aesthetics of the designs, only on the materials. Ideally, I want all the products to be made out of the same material as I want them to have the same feel, texture and look more presentable together. My aim is to find durable, sustainable and smart materials that will help enhance this design.  In the previous 2 blog posts, I developed my ideas and went through a rollercoaster of emotions. I first rejected a design and then came up with a brand new feature which is more useful and suitable.  As the blog posts might have been slightly confusing, I decided to recap on what I will be designing by drawing only the final designs digitally.  I decided to create these digitally as I wanted them to be neat and accurate. In my initial ideas, I created rough sketches which were misleading and resulted to me miscalculating the functions of some designs. I really liked the digital designs as they helped me visualise how everything will exist in real life.  Each number corresponds to one feature/ design of my project and they all add up to 6 which is what the brief needs. In my previous blog post, I looked at the development of the cupboard. I decided that I was going to discard the idea of creating one open cupboard display for my project as it caused a lot of complications and it was not necessary in an apartment. I decided to look at the chairs now before figuring out what other function I will include. An idea that was suggested to me was to take the individual shelves and place them in ways that could form a chair and lounge instead of creating a separate chair design.  Even though this is a clever idea, I do not want to design it. I want my designs to be smart and effective. By utilising 3 cubes to make one chair, that suggests that only 3 more cubes will be left for storage and shelves. I decided to make the chair a separate piece as I do not want it to take away from the storage function.  Since my initial ideas post, I started researching more artists in depth and analysing various existing products. I suggested different ways in which I could develop my work. As we are in week 6, it was time to finally complete my designs in order to start working on software. I started off by sketching out all of my initial ideas on one page. I used a digital software called 'procreate' to achieve this.  These are the designs that I came up with. The first one is the cupboard that could transform into a table, an open storage area and individual shelves. I also wanted to include a chair that has a stool underneath it that could be taken out and used for either leg rest or a stool around the house.
